I talked about being curious about the Bloglines | Free, Web-Based News Aggregator in an earlier post today. I checked it out and it’s a pretty smooth setup. You sign up for a free account and then you add sites to a portfolio of feeds that show as updated based on a frequency that you determine. It’s like looking at your favorites folder and knowing how many posts are new since your last visit and not having to go and visit the site to check for updates. The one drawback is that not all sites feature newsfeeds so the Bloglines search engine is not able to compile those that don’t feature feeds and present them to you for your reading pleasure. In that case, you may have to retain the favorites link and go visit the site and look for changes the old-fashioned way. All in all it’s a simple, fun interface that also allows you to share interesting tidbits with your friends or post them to your own Bloglines weblog. Makes keeping up with all the stuff that’s posted on the web a little easier and that ain’t bad.
